WHO's WHO ?
AGRISPORT
& AGRITURISMO is an Association created in Milan
in 1970 and established on January 29th 1976 (registered
c/o Visentini, Solicitor in Milan) , with the aim
to: promote sports events, to support agriculture
and to promote rural tourism as rural accommodation
with regards to nature and sustainability.
The
Association started with the publication of a monthly
magazine " Agrisport e Agriturismo", authorized
by Milan Tribunal as required in Italy and under
control of the Italian Publishing Warrant c/o Presidency
of Cabinet Council in Rome. This magazine was edited
in 10.000 copies, which arrived at 20.000 on occasion
of special events (fairs, expositions, shows etc.).
It was in the beginning sold also in kiosks but
after a few years withdrawn due to overwhelming
charges. It was afterwards only mailed and distributed
directly. In Agrisport e Agriturismo\Magazine various
articolists and columnists, Italian as Foreigners,
sustained rural tourism, as a relaxing holiday ,
in contact with country life, to better apprehend
farmers life and rural traditions. The magazine has
been accompanied along years with montly theme booklets
firstly on different Italian regions and then on
foreign (European and Intercontinental) destinations.
A databank has been created with addresses of farmhouses
B and B, gîtes ruraux, agri-campings, natural parks,
old countrylife museums , monasteries receiving
guests, etc. and published on floppy disks (dos).
Around
years 1992-1995 agri-tourism begun finally to be
known and practised also in Italy: first regional
laws on "Agriturismo" were so forth established
ending with National Law on Agritourism (Legge Quadro).
In the meantime Associazione Agrisport Agriturismo
continued to be busy with sport, organizing various
sports events : riding, marathon walks, cycling,
football, sailing, etc. It also arranged for the
participation of groups to the Olympiades of Munchen
1972, Montreal 1976 and Moscow 1980. In Milan -
viale Cassiodoro 28 - an agri-tourism school gave
lessons for years in theme of Agritourism management
and promotion.
In
year 1998, after having received necessary authorizations
from official Italian publishing boards, the Association
stopped its "paper" editions and begun
online editing with the internet publication of
Agrisport e Agriturismo magazine on website http://www.agrisport.com, three-lingual portal on Agri-tourism . In not
many months it received
visitors from all over the world with a present
medium of about 170-200 visitors/day and a lot of
international emails. The magazine gives news not
only for what concerns agri-tourism in Italy, Europe
and world, but it also divulgates information, ideas,
economic opportunities in agriculture, food, wine,
tourism, environment, sports etc. sectors.
